It’s Fashion Week again. This time, in India with Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 09. While you may not think of India as the hub of fashion, it’s a market to watch, with talent galore and 34 shows in total . Here are my faves from Day One on the ramp, as the desis call it.
Bal Chauhan – Life is shades of grey, n’est pas?
Interesting, architectural designs. Good ideas and executed well in some cases. Want to see other pieces evolve. Want the styling to not distract from simple pieces. On my watch list for future seasons.

Ritu Kumar’s usual fire was a mere candle this season, with only a couple of pieces of note. The drama was missing for me – and what are Ritu’s hippie chics without it?

Rocky S did a collection of dresses in black with hits of grey and silver, the most interesting being the “saree is turning Japanese, I think it’s turning Japanese, I really think so” and “If Pebbles Flintstone were a Mod” numbers.
Features on Satya Paul and Kiran Uttam Ghosh, who also showed on Day One, to follow later this week.
