Stella McCartney knows how to make us look good, whether it’s for work, a night out or just looking smart while running our weekend errands. Her Pre-Fall collection for FW09 had some great pieces for all of the above.
This suit remixes the ’80s better than any 12″ vinyl. The high-waisted cigarette pant gets paired with a just-oversized-enough jacket with dropped-notch lapel. The zebra boot and shell give the charcoal a much needed oomph and the ringed patent clutch is the perfect new wave addition.
I love the length of the pants here. You could also pair them with a contrasting, coloured boot – go for the burnt red that’s big for Fall, or teal. A slightly higher boot will give this a leaner look. It needs some jewellery – some dangly earrings. Linear and silver would be expected here, so I’d go round an girly to balance the suit.
Edgy meets soft for evening, with this flouncy, satiny top and scrunched skinnies. We all know how I feel about the latter – you can never have too many pairs of skinny pants. I’d do a different bag, though, for night. I have an ’80s vintage black patent parallelogram purse that would rock with this look – structured and shiny. And it needs jewellery, to my eyes. A simple pair of stud or hoop earrings and big, bold cuff bracelet.
Who says that you have to schlep out when the weekend comes? You can’t help but look polished while perusing produce at the market in this easy sweater, leggings and fabulous coat.
Love, love, love the lapel here. This might be my coat of the season…and I haven’t even fully dived into Fall as yet. I’d pair this with a lace-up bootie or a perfect pointy black flat – elongated toe, no shine, maybe a little detailing – and the biggest, slouchiest bag you can carry.
Perfection for Pre-Fall.
Another piece from this collection gave me a déjà vu. Take a look at Stella vs. Krizia. This isn’t the only time we’ve seen zebra print either. Also see McQueen’s Pre-Fall Victorian Dream for absolute perfection.
