+J for Jil

Jil Sander is going by +J these days. Sander, who can no longer design under her own name after leaving her House in 2004, is slated to take over creative direction at UNIQLO.

She’ll be overseeing design for all facets of the Japanese brand, but is now focused on launching an initial line with the +J moniker.

Sander’s German minimalist esthetic is evident in the label and tag design and in a simple white shirt with the perfect collar.

UNIQLO is Japan’s answer to American Apparel – with higher quality and better prices.

There’s no UNIQLO in Canada as yet (sigh) but the SoHo store in NYC  is a must-stop for great basics. Can’t wait to stock up on Sander’s stuff on my next visit.

No release date for the line has been announced as yet.
