For weeks now, I’ve been talking about working with Ryerson University students for Social Media Week Toronto. SMWTO has been a wonderful, brilliant collective energy of 50 events throughout the city (and globally, with over 600 events in nine cities) about the impacts of digital and social media on business, marketing, society and culture, that I have co-curated and co-organized.
It all started on Monday in Toronto, Paris, London, Rome, New York, San Francisco, Sao Paolo, Hong Kong and Istanbul and concludes in the wee hours tonight.
It has been a beautiful ride for many reasons, which I will share once I catch my breath, recall what it is to sleep, and maybe have a proper meal or two.
We started the week with a program on retail and education, discussing how those areas have evolved and changed with social media, which was programmed by students at Ryerson’s School of Retail Management, as part of their coursework.
We started the week with a design challenge, where three design students from the School of Fashion re-fashioned and re-purposed fur garments and re-educated people along the way, as journalism and radio and television students followed their journey.
We hope that you have enjoyed the discussion via @FurrrrReal and in watching Michons, Dane and Charlie create along the way.
Well, today is the day you have been waiting for! These three designers created six, one-of-a-kind couture creations, which you can bid on starting today – until Sunday, February 13th at 11:59 PM EST.
Forgotten fur can be found again, and become fabulous.
It has been an honour for me and for Exshoesme.com to be a part of this program and to work with all of the students and faculty at Ryerson.
Here’s to the future of fashion – in this city – or any other.
