Oscars 2012: The Mara-thon Continues

So Gwyneth was my favourite last night, but only up until she still had her Tom Ford cape on. I didn’t feel the same about the dress, without it.

I also would have liked to see a Georg Jensen or Frank Gehry cuff and ring. That metal filigree looked like it would mar that pristine white fabric. And I did not like the hair.

What wasn’t marred at all, however, was Ms. Mara’s look, in Givenchy Couture. So yes, after looking at the photos again, I am going back to my original choice, for overall look.

I simply loved the contrast of her sleek, almost painted-on hair against the crimson lippy.

The back of the dress was equally stunning. She leaves a trail of followers behind her.

While she has been on a red carpet marathon with the multiple premieres of the The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and then awards season, she has gotten each and every one so very right.

The baton is passed smoothly and coyly from one event to another. There is a continuity, a flow, a consistency – yet each look manages to stand apart.

Bravo, Ms. Mara. You are showing many veterans how it is done
