The silver sparkled amongst all the sea-foam, black and scarlet at this year’s Golden Globes’ red carpet. Actually, in most cases, it was Jenny Packham’s silver dresses that shone.
Kristen Bell is expecting and we expected her to opt for boring, but this dress is worth gossiping about, no? She looked lovely in the embellished Grecian gown by Jenny Packham.

As an aside, are you seeing the McQueen influence in a few of these Globe dresses, too, my dears?
Packham sure packed a punch on Catherine Zeta-Jones, whom we haven’t seen in a while. This just in: she is just as glamorous and as gorgeous as ever. Her silver-dusted champagne gown was a tall, crisp glass of the best bubbly.

Then, there was the dress that needed a little help. I don’t think it was as awful as everyone is saying – I just blame the stylist. Ms. Mortimer just needed a really good one-piece underneath and to insist that the mock-turtleneckline be abolished.

I would have also embraced the whole medieval vibe and gone for Creatures of the Wind pointed pumps and opted for either a softer vintage chainmail pouch, or embraced the black metal strap Valentino bag seen in the FW12 ad campaign.

The hair should have been more managed and the dress was screaming for a smoky eye and gothy lip.

When you go silver, you have to let it all go and embrace the bold. Carla Gugino did just that in her Rami Al Ali gown.

If you decide on silver, there shouldn’t be a sliver of doubt whether you can pull it off.
